Association des maires de France leadership race takes shape

The leadership structure for the Association des maires de France (AMF) is taking shape ahead of its upcoming Congress. The presidential race features a contest between incumbent David Lisnard, mayor of Cannes, and Philippe Laurent, mayor of Sceaux. Lisnard has secured 106 sponsorships, while Laurent has 13.

Regarding the association's Bureau and steering committee, a single joint list has been established, led by David Lisnard and Jean-François Debat, the socialist mayor of Bourg-en-Bresse. This arrangement maintains the AMF's long-standing tradition of transpartisan governance, incorporating elected officials from left-wing, right-wing, and non-affiliated backgrounds.

Isabelle Assih, the mayor of Quimper, is among eight new candidates proposed for the 36-member Bureau. The current list includes 28 returning members and eight new names, representing a 22% renewal rate for the Bureau.
