Italy launches various youth civic engagement and volunteering programs
Various regional initiatives across Italy are launching programs to promote youth engagement, civic service, and community volunteering.
In Lombardy, Associazione Mosaico is coordinating the start of the universal civil service for dozens of young people in the Brescia and Como provinces. These participants, many of whom hold high levels of education, will work in various sectors including cultural heritage. Similarly, the Fondazione della Comunità Bergamasca has relaunched YouthBank Bergamo, a program providing €40,000 to empower under-30s to design and fund local social projects.
Other educational and participatory efforts include the YouthBank collaboration between Como, Piacenza, Vigevano, and Valle d’Aosta, and a training course for territorial activators in Oristano. In Basilicata, the Centro di Servizio per il Volontariato (CSV) has begun a listening campaign to shape its 2027 programming based on the needs of local associations. Additionally, CSV Brescia is offering free orientation courses for citizens interested in entering the third sector, while the Quarto Anno Rondine program continues to host students in Arezzo for training in active citizenship and conflict transformation.
