Associazione Piscicoltori Italiani promotes local aquaculture with new cookbook

The Associazione Piscicoltori Italiani (API), which represents over 90% of Italian aquaculture and mariculture businesses, has released a new cookbook titled ‘I sapori dell’acquacoltura’ (The Flavors of Aquaculture). Presented at the Meeting di Rimini, the collection features 45 recipes designed to promote Italian-farmed fish as a safe, practical, and healthy dietary option for families.

API President Matteo Leonardi described aquaculture as ‘agriculture at sea,’ emphasizing its strategic importance for the country. He noted that the sector produces high-quality proteins, creates employment in both coastal and inland areas, and reduces reliance on imports. The initiative aims to encourage conscious consumer choices by highlighting the traceability and safety of locally produced fish. Italy currently leads Europe in fish consumption, with an average of 31 kilograms per person annually.
