ASSODRIVE rejects DVLA CEO claims over driving school quality

The Association of Certified Driving Instructors of Ghana (ASSODRIVE) has rejected allegations made by Julius Neequaye Kotey, CEO of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), regarding the quality of private driving schools. Mr. Kotey had suggested that private institutions produce sub-standard drivers, a claim he used to justify the establishment of a new skills development centre.

ASSODRIVE National President Marshall MK Bobobee argued that the DVLA holds the sole legal mandate to test applicants and issue licenses under the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority Act, 1999 (Act 569). The association emphasized that instructors follow syllabi and standards designed and monitored by the DVLA, and that the authority itself is responsible for certifying fitness to drive through its testing processes.
