Assouline releases new book dedicated to Beirut

Assouline has released ‘Beirut Habibi’, a new 304-page hardcover addition to its Classics Collection dedicated to the history and culture of Lebanon’s capital. Written by Lebanese novelist and professor Charif Majdalani, the book explores the city’s layered identity, tracing its evolution from a Phoenician port and Roman colony to an Ottoman center and part of the French Mandate.

The publication utilizes a combination of archival photographs and contemporary imagery to illustrate the city’s transformation. It highlights landmarks such as the Sursock Palace, the Raouché Rocks, and the streets of Gemmayze, while also revisiting the city’s glamorous past, including the Boulevard de Paris in the 1970s and the Casino du Liban.
