ASST Brianza launches free lung cancer screening program

ASST Brianza has launched a new free lung cancer screening program in the Lombardy region of Italy to promote early diagnosis. The initiative is part of a broader regional program aimed at identifying the disease in its initial stages, when it often presents no symptoms and treatment options are more effective.

The screening process utilizes low-dose chest CT scans, which are described as rapid, painless, and performed without contrast media. The program is specifically targeted at individuals between the ages of 55 and 74 who meet certain regional risk factors.

To facilitate access, the program incorporates a digital component supported by Paginemediche. Eligible citizens can complete an online questionnaire to verify their suitability. If the requirements are met, ASST Brianza will coordinate the necessary medical examinations and specialist follow-ups through its local healthcare network. This digital approach aims to make prevention more accessible and streamlined for high-risk populations.
