AST SpaceMobile expands satellite broadband network via major carrier partnerships
AST SpaceMobile is advancing its satellite-based cellular broadband network, which aims to connect standard, unmodified mobile phones directly to satellites. The company has established partnerships with over 60 mobile network operators, including AT&T, Verizon, and Vodafone, potentially accessing a global subscriber base of more than 3 billion users.
Financial projections indicate significant growth, with management providing 2026 revenue guidance between $150 million and $200 million. Some estimates suggest revenue could reach $682 million by 2027. However, the company faces high operational costs and a steep valuation premium compared to industry benchmarks. Recent challenges include the de-orbiting of the BlueBird 7 satellite, which resulted in a $125.9 million loss.
While revenue grew to approximately $70.9 million in fiscal year 2025, the company reported a net loss of nearly $342 million during that period. The business model relies on a revenue-sharing approach with major carriers to scale its user base, though the high costs of constellation deployment and the reliance on debt to fund operations remain key factors for investors.
