Astana’s International Boxing Day set for August 28 with bantamweight title bout and Sanzhar Tashkenbay headline

The International Boxing Day festival will take place in Astana on 28 August 2026, organized by the International Boxing Association (IBA) and NOMAD Fighting. The main championship bout features a bantamweight title rematch between defending champion Aidos “Alim” Japparbergenov and unbeaten challenger Almaz Nurghali, following their controversial draw in May 2025. Both fighters have added recent victories, with Japparbergenov defending his IBA NOMAD title and Nurghali defeating world‑ranked Torgynbek Amirov.

World champion Sanzhar Tashkenbay will headline the two‑day event, joining a star‑studded card that also includes two‑time world champion Saken Bibossinov and former AMC Fight Nights Global champion Zhalgas Zhumagulov. The celebration begins on 27 August with a boxing festival offering fan zones, open workouts and press events, followed by ten contests on the main night. Tickets will be sold via Ticketon.kz.
