Asterisk Talley withdraws from LPGA Portland Classic due to school conflict
Asterisk Talley has withdrawn from the LPGA Portland Classic due to a conflict with her school schedule. The decision comes shortly after the 17-year-old secured her second USGA title by winning the U.S. Women’s Amateur, where she defeated Anna Iwanaga 8&6.
Talley, who is currently the highest-ranked American junior and is committed to Stanford University, was set to compete as an amateur through a new LPGA pathway for major amateur champions. Her place in the field at Columbia Edgewater Country Club will be taken by former Oregon standout Caroline Inglis.
Despite Talley's absence, the tournament field includes several notable players, such as World No. 2 Jeeno Thitikul, Haeran Ryu, and Lexi Thompson. Other amateur participants include Maria Jose Marin and Farah O’Keefe.
