Asterix and Obelix adventure set in Lusitania

The 41st album in the famous Asterix and Obelix comic series, titled ‘Asterix na Lusitânia’, features the Gallic heroes traveling to the territory of ancient Lusitania, which corresponds to modern-day Portugal. Written by Fabcaro and illustrated by Didier Conrad, the story follows the duo as they attempt to rescue a garum producer unjustly detained by the followers of Julius Caesar.

The new release will be published in Mirandese by the Leya publishing group in October. This marks the fourth volume of the series to be translated into the Mirandese language, an official language of Portugal centered in the Terra de Miranda region. Previous Mirandese translations include ‘La Spadanha Branca’, ‘Asterix an Eitália’, and ‘Asterix l Goulés’.

Translators have noted the complexity of the task, requiring significant imagination and linguistic rigor to adapt the historical and cultural nuances of the Gallic setting into the Mirandese language and society.
