Astillero FC reaches Copa Ecuador quarterfinals with win over Daquilema

Astillero FC has advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2026 Copa Ecuador after defeating Daquilema FC 2-0 at the Alejandro Ponce Noboa stadium in Guayaquil. Both competing teams belong to the Segunda Categoría (third division).

Astillero FC took an early lead in the first minute when Roberto Valarezo scored from outside the area following a goalkeeper error. The first half was marked by tension, resulting in red cards for both Leonardo Ortiz of Astillero and Jhon Huilcavio of Daquilema.

In the 79th minute, Miguel Ángel Solís converted a penalty to secure the 2-0 victory. With this win, Astillero FC will face the defending champions, Universidad Católica, in the next round. The quarterfinals will consist of single-match pairings.
