Aston Martin addresses engine partnership and performance in Austin
Aston Martin team principal Mike Krack has dismissed speculation regarding a change in engine suppliers, emphasizing that Honda remains a long-term partner despite recent technical challenges. The team's stance follows engine issues experienced by Lance Stroll during the United States Grand Prix in Austin.
Despite facing significant damage to Fernando Alonso’s car due to a first-corner incident involving Alex Albon and Esteban Ocon, the team reported performance improvements. Engineer Shintaro Orihara noted that technical updates implemented after the Singapore Grand Prix, including improved turbo lag control and optimized energy management, have yielded positive results.
While rumors have circulated about a potential move to Red Bull Ford engines for 2028, Red Bull Ford Powertrains director Laurent Mekies stated that the company is not currently in serious discussions to supply engines to other teams, as they are focusing on their own performance.
