Aston Martin considers returning to Mercedes partnership

Aston Martin is reportedly considering a return to a partnership with Mercedes due to concerns regarding their current engine supplier, Honda. Speculation arose following meetings between Aston Martin owner Lawrence Stroll and Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff during the Dutch Grand Prix.

While Aston Martin currently has an agreement with Honda through 2030, there are concerns that Honda's engine development may not meet expectations, particularly ahead of the 2027 technical regulation changes. If Honda's performance does not improve significantly by the start of the 2027 season, Stroll may activate a plan to switch back to Mercedes power units from 2028.

A potential split would pose a significant challenge for Honda, as F1 regulations regarding engine suppliers and team partnerships could leave the Japanese manufacturer without a client team if they part ways with Aston Martin.
