Aston Martin delays first electric vehicle launch to 2033–2035
Aston Martin has delayed the launch of its first fully electric vehicle, with CEO Adrian Hallmark stating the debut will likely occur between 2033 and 2035. This marks a significant shift from previous targets, which had been set for 2025, 2026, and 2030.
Hallmark noted that the company is a “BEV delayer” rather than a “BEV denier,” explaining that the brand will remain primarily focused on internal combustion engines, including V8 and V12 models, until 2035. This timeline aligns with regulatory requirements in certain markets, such as the UK and EU, which mandate zero-emission new vehicle sales by 2035.
The delay is attributed to a rapidly changing electric vehicle market and a shifting regulatory landscape that is moving faster than automakers can adapt. To support future electrification, Aston Martin has secured an agreement with Lucid for EV technology and maintains a partnership with Mercedes-Benz for engine technology.
