Aston Martin driver on trial for fatal pedestrian accident in Győr

A trial is underway at the Győr District Court regarding a fatal accident in February involving a 33-year-old man, Dávid Cs., driving an Aston Martin. The defendant is accused of striking and killing a 76-year-old woman waiting at a bus stop.

Technical experts testified that the vehicle accelerated from approximately 73 km/h to between 85 and 87 km/h before spinning out at roughly 93 km/h, eventually hitting the victim. The prosecution has requested a two-year prison sentence. However, the defense disputes these speed measurements, suggesting the car may have been traveling between 50 and 60 km/h and potentially skidded due to wet road conditions. The defense has submitted new video footage for expert review to determine a more accurate speed.

Eyewitnesses provided conflicting accounts. One witness suggested the driver may have been provoked by a blue MG vehicle that cut in front of the Aston Martin, potentially causing the driver to accelerate suddenly to overtake it. Medical experts reported that the victim sustained at least 30 injuries, with the cause of death being hemorrhagic shock resulting from a ruptured thoracic aorta.
