Aston Martin drivers express frustration over strategy and performance
Aston Martin drivers Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso have expressed significant frustration following difficult performances.
Lance Stroll addressed a heated radio outburst during the Bahrain Grand Prix, clarifying that his anger was directed at the team's tire management strategy rather than mechanical issues. Stroll explained that overly cautious instructions to preserve tires caused them to lose temperature and fall out of their optimal operating window. He noted that the tires were more durable than anticipated, meaning a more aggressive approach would have yielded better results.
In Singapore, Fernando Alonso voiced dissatisfaction after both Aston Martin cars were eliminated in the first qualifying segment. Alonso rejected suggestions that a braking error caused his P17 finish, noting he was 0.7 seconds faster than his teammate. Instead, he attributed the lack of performance to the Honda engine, citing persistent issues with exit speed and requesting an engine change.
