Aston Martin unveils 16-part upgrade package at Hungarian Grand Prix

Aston Martin AMR26 B-spec Hungarian Grand Prix 16 upgrades Fernando Alonso

Aston Martin introduced a radical B‑spec version of its AMR26 at the 2026 Hungarian Grand Prix, fitting 16 upgrades that overhaul the car’s aerodynamics, rear suspension and overall weight. The package includes a new front wing, slimmer nose, reworked floor and diffuser, a redesigned rear wing and side‑pods, and a revised rear‑suspension layout.

Fernando Alonso said the car gave “a good feeling” and that the data‑car correlation matched expectations, though the team still lags the front‑running cars. He finished 13th in the first free‑practice session and 19th in the second, noting the upgrades are “the first step” toward better performance. Martin Brundle added that the car “definitely looks better” but full recovery may only come by 2027.

During the first practice session, Lance Stroll suffered a left‑rear suspension failure, forcing him to miss the second session. Aston Martin shipped replacement parts from the United Kingdom to repair the car. Team boss Adrian Newey said the failure will be investigated before any further action. The FIA officially listed the 16 updates, confirming the extensive scope of the B‑spec package. The upgrades are viewed as a pivotal early‑season effort to lift the team from a poor start toward mid‑field competitiveness.
