Aston Martin faces engine issues as Alonso criticizes Honda
Fernando Alonso expressed significant frustration with the Honda power unit during the Singapore Grand Prix, where he finished 16th after starting from the pit lane. The driver criticized the engine's performance, specifically citing issues with the turbo and energy delivery.
In response, Honda engineer Shintaro Orihara stated that while no major issues have been detected yet, the team will conduct a thorough investigation at the factory using race data and driver feedback before the F1 return to the United States.
Despite the current technical struggles at Aston Martin, former engineer Jock Clear expressed confidence in the team's long-term prospects. Clear noted that Adrian Newey, who serves as both engineer and Team Principal, possesses the necessary expertise to lead the team toward success, drawing parallels between Aston Martin's current rebuilding phase and Newey's early years at Red Bull.
