Aston Martin driver Fernando Alonso reports engine setbacks

Aston Martin driver Fernando Alonso has expressed mixed results regarding the team's recent technical updates. While Alonso noted satisfaction with the direction of the chassis development, he reported setbacks with the new Honda power unit.

Following the Dutch Grand Prix, Alonso stated that improvements previously seen in the engine's drivability and gear changes have effectively returned to square one with the latest specification. He indicated that the team requires another two to three races to optimize the package and address issues with handling and energy deployment.

Despite these engine challenges, the team's chassis, influenced by design work from Adrian Newey, has shown competitiveness and improved tire management. Honda remains focused on closing the performance gap, with recent updates aimed at improving top speed and reliability.
