Aston Martin suffers double retirement at Barcelona Formula 1 Grand Prix

Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll both retired from the Spanish Grand Prix, marking a difficult weekend for the Aston Martin team. Alonso pulled out after a sudden battery failure, later saying, “We had a problem with the battery and I had to retire.” Stroll was forced to stop after a gearbox issue that left third and fourth gears inoperable, explaining, “I had to retire because of a problem with the gearbox.”

The team acknowledged ongoing performance and reliability struggles and said its focus now turns to a development package planned for the summer break. Team principal Mike Krack described the weekend as “especially difficult”, while both drivers thanked the fans for their support throughout the event.
