Aston Martin rolls out major AMR26 upgrade ahead of Hungarian Grand Prix

Aston Martin unveiled a comprehensive B‑spec upgrade package for its 2026 AMR26 chassis ahead of the Hungarian Grand Prix, aiming to reverse a disappointing first half of the season. The overhaul, described by the team as the most significant mid‑season change, includes a new chassis architecture, substantial weight reduction, a reshaped nose, revised rear suspension, a completely revised rear wing and other aerodynamic surfaces, and a reworked gearbox layout.

Team chief Mike Krack confirmed that both Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll will receive identical specifications and said, “Yes. As we said last week, we are working on it,” while acknowledging a “$1 million question” over parts supply. The shortage of spare components means a backup chassis will be of the older spec, but the team is confident the two new cars will be ready for practice. Honda’s Shintaro Orihara noted that the Hungaroring’s layout favours the chassis improvements and that an upgraded power unit is expected for the following Dutch Grand Prix.

The package is intended to deliver a performance gain of roughly two seconds per lap, improve reliability, and restore competitiveness in the midfield battle.
