Aston Martin Valkyri returns to Fuji for WEC 6 Hours race
The Aston Martin THOR team is returning to the Fuji 6 Hours as the Valkyri hypercar program continues a streak of eight consecutive races with at least one car scoring points in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC).
The team enters the Japanese race following a strong performance at the Circuit of The Americas, where drivers Tom Gamble and Harry Tincknell secured a fourth-place finish, just three seconds behind the podium. The #007 Valkyri duo has scored points in all five rounds held so far this season. Meanwhile, the #009 Valkyri, driven by Alex Riberas and Marco Sørensen, aims to build on their recent points finish in São Paulo.
Currently, Aston Martin is competing with Alpine for fifth place in the FIA Hypercar World Endurance Manufacturers' Championship. The Valkyri racing machine is based on the high-performance road car, featuring a carbon fiber chassis and a 6.5-liter V12 engine. While the engine can produce over 1,000bhp in road configuration, it is limited to 500kW (680bhp) to comply with WEC and IMSA GTP regulations.
