Aston Martin Vantage claims second place at Fuji 6 Hours
The Heart of Racing secured a second-place finish for the Aston Martin Vantage at the Fuji 6 Hours endurance race on September 27, 2026. This result marks the 17th podium for the Vantage model in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) and its fifth podium of the current season in the LMGT3 class.
Despite starting 16th on the grid due to a canceled qualifying session and carrying 18kg of success ballast, the driver trio of Ian James, Mattia Dorati, and Zac Robison mounted a significant comeback. The race was marked by volatility, including a pit lane penalty for James and a collision involving Dorati and a McLaren that necessitated a lengthy safety car period. After a strategic pit stop involving three new tires, Dorati regained momentum in the final 20 minutes, finishing just over one second behind the leader.
The performance keeps the team and drivers in contention for the LMGT3 title, with the driver trio currently sitting fourth in the FIA Endurance Trophy, trailing the leader by 14 points with two races remaining.
