Aston Martin‑Honda upgrades lift Hungarian GP performance

At the 2024 Hungarian Grand Prix, Aston Martin partnered with Honda rolled out a major aerodynamic upgrade and a significant power‑unit improvement. The changes helped Lance Stroll climb to 13th place and Fernando Alonso to 14th, with Alonso also achieving his first Q1 qualification of the season.

Team technical director Adrian Newey said the upgrades delivered roughly two‑second lap‑time gains and reduced the gap to the leading manufacturers. The BBC highlighted that the new package could shave about 0.5 seconds off the deficit to Mercedes, and a further new Honda engine is expected to debut at the Dutch Grand Prix.

Analysts expect the continued development to narrow the roughly 1.5‑second per‑lap shortfall the team has faced, signalling a potential turnaround for the Aston Martin‑Honda effort in the remainder of the season.
