Alejandro Garnacho joins Aston Villa on loan from Chelsea

Aston Villa have secured Argentine winger Alejandro Garnacho on a season‑long loan from Chelsea with a conditional obligation to buy. The deal, valued at around £43 million (≈ €50 million), will become permanent next summer if predefined criteria—most notably a set number of appearances—are met. Garnacho has already agreed to a four‑year contract that will take effect should the clause be triggered.

Unai Emery, Villa’s manager, was the driving force behind the move. He said, “We are delighted with Alejandro. He is so talented, young and he showed us his wish to help our project.” Garnacho echoed the sentiment, stating, “I am really happy to be here and I look forward to regaining the confidence I had at Manchester United.”

The winger arrives after a brief, limited spell at Chelsea where he scored one Premier League goal and struggled for regular minutes. He originally joined Chelsea from Manchester United for a £40 million fee and was linked with clubs such as Roma before Villa’s interest materialised. Garnacho becomes Villa’s fourth summer signing after Johan Manzambi, Joao Gomes and Modou Keba Cissé, as the club prepares for a new campaign in the Premier League and Champions League.
