Aston Villa players impress ahead of UEFA Super Cup

Aston Villa players João Gomes and Kosta Nedeljkovic have made strong impressions during the club's pre-season preparations ahead of the 2026 UEFA Super Cup against Paris Saint-Germain.

João Gomes, who joined the club from Wolverhampton for €40 million, played the full 90 minutes in a recent friendly against Bayern Munich in Hong Kong. Despite a 2-1 defeat, Gomes scored a goal from outside the box in the 38th minute of the second half and provided two key assists, positioning himself for a potential starting role.

Additionally, 20-year-old Serbian defender Kosta Nedeljkovic is expected to be reintegrated into the first team following a loan spell. After making four pre-season appearances and recording one assist, Nedeljkovic has been named in the squad for the upcoming continental clash against PSG, potentially serving as a deputy for Matty Cash.
