Aston Villa sign Nigerian defender Rofiat Imuran
Aston Villa Women have signed Nigerian international defender Rofiat Imuran from London City Lionesses. The 22-year-old fullback becomes the club’s ninth summer recruit ahead of the 2026/27 Women’s Super League season, with the move subject to visa approval.
Imuran, who will wear the number 22 shirt, brings experience from the Nigerian Women’s Football League with Sunshine Queens and Rivers Angels, as well as two seasons in France with Stade de Reims Feminines. She previously played in the WSL for London City Lionesses, making 10 appearances last season.
A member of the Nigeria national team, Imuran has been part of the Super Falcons squads for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. Marisa Ewers, Aston Villa’s Director of Women’s Football, noted that Imuran’s pace and energy are expected to fit the tactical requirements of manager Natalia Arroyo.
