Aston Villa signs Zion Suzuki and Matteo Ruggeri

Aston Villa has officially announced the dual signings of Japanese goalkeeper Zion Suzuki and Italian defender Matteo Ruggeri to bolster their squad ahead of the Champions League season.

Suzuki joins from Parma in a deal reported to be worth approximately 35 million euros, including bonuses. The 23-year-old, who represented Japan at the 2026 World Cup, is expected to compete for the starting position, potentially impacting the future of current first-choice goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez. Reports suggest Martínez's potential move to Juventus has stalled due to financial disagreements.

Ruggeri arrives from Atlético Madrid for a fee estimated between 20 and 25 million euros. The 24-year-old left-back, who previously played for Atalanta, is expected to provide depth in the defensive line following the departure of Lucas Digne to Paris Saint-Germain.
