Aston Villa Women sack manager Natalia Arroyo

Aston Villa Women have sacked head coach Natalia Arroyo following a winless start to the Women's Super League season. Arroyo, who joined the club in January 2025, was dismissed after the team recorded two draws and two losses in their opening four matches, including a recent 4-0 defeat to Tottenham.

Brian Sørensen, the club's women's technical advisor, has been appointed as interim manager. The leadership change comes immediately ahead of Villa's upcoming match against Newcastle United Women in the Subway Players Cup on Wednesday.

Newcastle United Women enter the fixture with significant momentum, having won their first four league matches and maintaining a perfect start to their WSL2 campaign. Their upcoming test against top-flight opposition will serve as a measure of their progress under current management.
