Aston Whiteside flips commitment from Texas A&M to Miami
Four-star linebacker Aston Whiteside has decommitted from Texas A&M to join the Miami Hurricanes. Whiteside, a product of Burleson Centennial in Texas, originally committed to the Aggies in June following a visit to College Station.
His decision comes during a difficult season for Texas A&M, which currently holds a 4-3 record. While the loss impacts the Aggies' 2027 linebacker group, the program maintains a highly-ranked recruiting class that includes five-star prospects Mark Matthews and Zyron Forstall.
Whiteside, a 6-foot-2, 215-pound defender, also held offers from several major programs, including Michigan, Florida State, and Texas Tech. His move to Miami strengthens the Hurricanes' 2027 recruiting class, which is currently ranked second in the nation.
