Astoria hosts inaugural Brasil Fest for Brazilian Independence Day
Astoria hosted its first Brasil Fest on September 5 to celebrate Brazilian Independence Day. The event took place along 31st Avenue in Queens, a neighborhood noted for having the highest population of Brazilian Americans in New York City.
Organized with help from the 31st Ave Open Street Collective, the festival featured Brazilian musical and dance performances, interactive activities, and various games. Local vendors sold traditional foods such as brigadeiro and Pão de queijo, alongside artisanal goods and accessories.
