Astra Financial and OJK train 1,000 ambassadors to boost financial literacy

Astra Financial and the Indonesian Financial Services Authority (OJK) have inaugurated 1,000 participants as ‘Duta OJK Peduli’ (OJK Care Ambassadors) to bolster financial literacy across Indonesia. The training program, which included employees, students, village activists, and MSME facilitators, aims to bridge the significant gap between financial inclusion and literacy.

According to OJK’s M. Ismail Riyadi, while Indonesia’s financial inclusion rate has reached 93%, the financial literacy rate stands at only 69.57%. This gap of over 20% highlights a critical need for citizens to not only have access to financial products but also to understand how to manage them effectively.

As part of the initiative, workshops were held in Wukirsari Tourism Village, Bantul, to encourage local youth to become ambassadors for healthy financial management. The village was selected due to its status as an Astra Prosperous Village and its international recognition in tourism. Local organizers noted that improving financial literacy is essential to addressing community issues, such as the impact of online gambling on household welfare and social assistance eligibility.
