Astra Motor Sulsel and FIFGroup provide drought relief to Sidrap farmers

Astra Motor Sulawesi Selatan (Asmo Sulsel) and FIFGroup have provided emergency aid to farmers in the Watang Sidenreng District of Sidrap, South Sulawesi, to combat severe drought conditions.

The assistance was delivered to the Massappa 3 Farmers Group, which consists of approximately 30 members managing 25 to 30 hectares of rice fields. The aid package included 10 units of 3kg LPG gas cylinders to fuel water pumps, 500 kilograms of fertilizer, and 100 meters of water hose.

Local farmers reported that the drought has significantly increased operational costs. Previously, one hectare required two to three gas cylinders, but the scarcity of water has forced farmers to pump from distant underground sources, increasing consumption to over six cylinders per hectare. The program is part of the Astra Motor Sustainability Initiatives 2030, aimed at supporting local agricultural productivity amidst climate challenges.
