Astra TV adds 14 regional HD channels to free satellite service in Spain

Astra TV, the free‑to‑view satellite platform operated by SES, expanded its Spanish catalogue with 14 new regional channels in high definition. The added signals include Canal Sur, Aragón TV, TPA, IB3, Televisión Canaria, Castilla‑La Mancha Media, CyLTV, TV3, TVG, Telemadrid, La 7 Región de Murcia, ETB 1, Canal Extremadura and À Punt, bringing broader local news, culture and entertainment to viewers across the country.

Alongside the channel expansion, Astra TV launched a new generation of hybrid decoders that combine satellite reception with internet connectivity via Wi‑Fi or Ethernet. The receivers support emerging standards such as DVB‑I and DVB‑NIP, offering on‑demand video, enriched electronic program guides and the ability to stream additional online channels. Vice‑President of Sales, Sports, Events and New Media at SES, Michele Gosetti, said: “Our commitment is to keep high‑quality content available for all viewers in Spain, regardless of where they are. The regional channel rollout and next‑generation decoders reinforce the satellite’s role in delivering quality television.”
