Astranis secures $468 million EXIM loan for satellite expansion
Astranis has secured a $468 million direct credit facility from the Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM) to expand its domestic satellite manufacturing capabilities. Provided under EXIM’s ‘Make More in America’ initiative, the financing is intended to scale the production of the company’s proprietary MicroGEO satellites at its 153,000-square-foot facility in Northern California.
The funding follows a $450 million equity and debt raise completed in May 2026, bringing the company’s total institutional capital raised to support a backlog of commercial and government satellite orders exceeding $1.2 billion. The transaction was arranged by J. P. Morgan’s Securitized Products Group.
Astranis specializes in small geostationary communications spacecraft that provide dedicated, secure, and scalable point-to-point bandwidth. The company’s customer base includes the U.S. government and international entities such as Chunghwa Telecom in Taiwan, stc group in Saudi Arabia, and Gulf Space Technology in Thailand. The expansion aims to meet growing global demand for sovereign, dedicated communications infrastructure.
