Astrid Widayani promotes literacy and environmental care in Surakarta

Surakarta Deputy Mayor Astrid Widayani has highlighted initiatives to promote environmental stewardship and cultural literacy within the city. During a fishing competition held at the Toklo River to commemorate National Sports Day, Widayani participated alongside residents and urged the community to maintain cleanliness by not littering or discarding cigarette butts in the river.

Additionally, speaking at the Solo Literacy Festival, Widayani expressed her vision for Surakarta to evolve beyond a mere tourist destination into a center of knowledge. She emphasized that literacy should encompass history, culture, and public spaces, rather than being limited to books. She noted that the city's historical and cultural wealth serves as a foundation for a literacy ecosystem that integrates technological progress with national identity.
