AstroLab Institute receives 84,000 PLN EU grant for astrology research
The Marshal's Office in Olsztyn has awarded a grant of approximately 84,000 PLN in EU funds to Robert Marzewski, head of the AstroLab Institute of Astrology Research based in Ełk. The funding is intended to support the development of non-governmental organizations.
Marzewski, who operates a one-person foundation, stated that the funds will be used for language courses in English, German, and Russian. He explained that these skills are necessary to read astrological literature in its original form and to study the field using scientific methods, specifically focusing on the analysis of cyclical phenomena.
The decision has drawn criticism from local councilors and scientific communities who question the use of public funds for astrology, which is widely regarded as a pseudoscience. In response to the controversy, Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship Marshal Marcin Kuchciński stated that the application was approved by a competition committee and that the office will conduct a control of the grant to ensure compliance with requirements.
