Astronaut Sara García Alonso to keynote Blue Zone Forum 2026

Astronaut and researcher Sara García Alonso will deliver the keynote speech at the Blue Zone Forum InnovAzul 2026. The event is scheduled to take place in Cádiz from October 28 to 30 under the theme ‘Proyectando en azul’. Organized by the Cádiz Free Zone and the University of Cádiz, the forum aims to bring together entrepreneurs, researchers, institutions, and students to discuss challenges and opportunities within the Blue Economy, focusing on innovation, sustainability, and entrepreneurship.

García Alonso is the first Spanish woman selected as a reserve astronaut for the European Space Agency (ESA). A molecular biologist and researcher specializing in cancer and precision medicine, she holds a doctorate in Molecular Biology from the University of León and has conducted scientific work at the National Cancer Research Center (CNIO). She currently leads a research group focused on developing new drugs for lung and pancreatic cancer.
