Astronomical events: Lunar eclipse in Naples and upcoming Moon-Saturn conjunction

A partial lunar eclipse was observed from the Capodimonte Astronomical Observatory in Naples. The event began at 4:33 CEST, with the Moon entering Earth's shadow. The eclipse reached its peak at 06:12 CEST, when approximately 96% of the lunar disk was obscured by the Earth's shadow.

Following this event, an astronomical conjunction between the Moon and Saturn is expected to occur during the night of August 30 and 31. While appearing as a close encounter from Earth's perspective, it is a visual alignment. The conjunction will be visible in Italy starting from 21:30 on Sunday until 6:00 the following morning. Clearer viewing conditions are anticipated in southern Italy and the islands, as northern regions may face potential rain interference.
