Astronomical forecasts predict Ramadan 2027 start date
Astronomical calculations suggest that Ramadan 2027 is likely to begin on Monday, February 8, 2027. These projections are based on the visibility of the lunar crescent in North Africa and Europe.
According to the International Astronomy Center, the geocentric conjunction of the new moon will occur on Saturday, February 6, 2027. While the crescent may be visible via telescope on Sunday, February 7, experts suggest that February 8 will be the first day of the holy month for many Arab countries and European nations, including Algeria and France.
In Tunisia, Sarra Snoussi of the Cité des Sciences de Tunis noted that the observation window on February 6 will be insufficient for sighting the crescent, as it will be 41 degrees below the horizon. Consequently, February 7 is expected to be the final day of Chaâbane, making February 8 the start of Ramadan. These dates remain unofficial, as final confirmation depends on religious authorities and moon sightings.
