Astroscale and OHB sign memorandum to enhance space security cooperation

Astroscale Holdings and the German space systems company OHB SE have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to explore cooperation in protecting critical space infrastructure. The agreement aims to establish a framework for joint business opportunities by leveraging complementary expertise in in-space servicing, assembly, and manufacturing (ISAM), space domain awareness (SDA), and space security.

The collaboration focuses on strengthening ties between Astroscale’s UK subsidiary, Astroscale Ltd., and OHB. This partnership seeks to create export opportunities for technologies developed in the UK and address emerging customer needs. The companies also intend to explore potential joint ventures in Japan, utilizing Astroscale’s existing technical foundations there.

This industrial cooperation aligns with the deepening strategic partnership between the United Kingdom and Germany, which includes enhanced collaboration across civilian, commercial, and defense space sectors. By combining Astroscale’s orbital servicing capabilities, such as debris removal and satellite inspection, with OHB’s systems expertise, the companies aim to improve the safety and resilience of space operations.
