Asturian farmers warn of protests over rising costs and drought

Agricultural organizations in Asturias are warning of potential mass mobilizations if the regional government does not address growing sector instability. The Unión Rural Asturiana (URA) has proposed a joint response with other agrarian groups to demand solutions for rising costs, falling livestock prices, and administrative delays in aid payments.

Key concerns cited by the URA include the difficulty of attracting young people to farming, the impact of drought, and a perceived lack of dialogue with the Ministry of Rural Affairs. Additionally, COAG Asturias has called for extraordinary aid for farms suffering from drought and the resulting high costs of supplemental livestock feed.
