Asturias highlights regional culture and natural landmarks

The Asturias region in northern Spain continues to highlight its diverse cultural and natural attractions through various local landmarks and events.

In Llanes, the Playa de Gulpiyuri stands out as a unique Natural Monument. Located inland rather than on the coastline, this geological feature is a protected site within the municipality, which is characterized by a landscape of cliffs, beaches, and mountains.

In the Redesa Natural Park, the town of Rioseco in Sobrescobio hosted the ‘El Pueblo’ indie music festival. The event featured local craftsmanship and musical performances by artists such as Los Punsetes and Xoel López, aiming to promote regional community and culture.

Meanwhile, the maritime village of Llastres, located in the Colunga municipality, preserves its historical identity through its architecture. The town’s whaling and fishing heritage from the 16th and 17th centuries is still visible in the Barrio de los Balleneros, where whale bones were historically repurposed for domestic construction.
