Asturias International Fair highlights historic Trubia tank and bustling family food scene

The Feria Internacional de Muestras de Asturias (FIDMA) runs in Gijón from August 1 to 15, drawing large crowds of families who enjoy a wide range of food stalls offering sandwiches, ice‑cream, waffles, burgers, vegan and gluten‑free options. Visitors describe the experience as "a classic" and note the fair’s role as a social meeting point.

At the same event, defence contractor Santa Bárbara Sistemas uses the fair to exhibit the Trubia 1 – Spain’s first domestically designed tank from 1926 – alongside a modern ASCOD infantry fighting vehicle. The juxtaposition showcases a century of continuity in Spain’s armoured‑vehicle industry and underlines the Trubia factory’s ongoing role in European defence projects.
