Asturias launches subsidies for rural self-employed workers

The Principality of Asturias has launched a subsidy program totaling three million euros to support self-employed workers residing in 23 council areas identified as being at risk of depopulation. The initiative aims to bolster economic activity and services in rural areas to ensure the future viability of these communities.

Individual grants range from 1,200 to 2,600 euros. The final amount is determined by a scoring system that prioritizes specific criteria, including being a woman, being under the age of 40 (with higher points for those under 30), and the creation of employment.

As of the final days of the application period, which closes on August 22, more than 2,100 applications have already been submitted. The eligible municipalities include Allande, Aller, Amieva, Belmonte de Miranda, Boal, Caso, Colunga, Degaña, Grandas de Salime, Ibias, Illano, Pesoz, Ponga, Proaza, Riosa, San Martín, Santa Eulalia, Villanueva de Oscos, Somiedo, Taramundi, Teverga, Tineo, and Villayón.
