Oviedo will host a conference on October 16 titled ‘Decarbonization in Asturias: challenges and opportunities in an uncertain future’. The event aims to address how the Asturian industry can transition toward a low-emission economy while maintaining regional competitiveness and industrial character.
Organized by the University of Oviedo’s Climate Change Chair, Club La Nueva España, and the IQPA Cluster, the meeting will feature experts discussing energy security, carbon capture and storage (CCS) technologies, and the requirements for turning climate goals into industrial investments. Speakers include MEP Nicolás González Casares and representatives from the Spanish Technological Platform for CO2 (PTECO2) and the Geological and Mining Institute of Spain (IGME-CSIC).
