Asturias to purchase Duro Felguera workshop to enable Indra factory
The Government of the Principality of Asturias and the engineering firm Duro Felguera have reached a preliminary agreement for the regional administration to purchase the Barros workshop in Langreo. This move is intended to resolve pricing disagreements between Duro Felguera and the multinational defense company Indra, thereby clearing the way for Indra to establish a second manufacturing plant in the region.
This new facility in Langreo will focus on the production of armored vehicles and land-based platforms, serving as an expansion of Indra’s existing capacity in Asturias following its July 2025 acquisition of the Tallerón in Gijón. The project is viewed as a strategic initiative for the Nalón basin to consolidate industrial employment and strengthen the region's position in the defense sector.
Indra has expressed gratitude for the regional government's intervention, noting that the initiative facilitates the company's growth plans and the development of industrial capabilities in the northern corridor. While the economic terms and specific timeline of the purchase have not been disclosed, Duro Felguera described the operation as a fair solution for all parties involved.
