Asturias showcases autonomy milestones and heritage at FIDMA 2026 in Gijón

The 69th Feria Internacional de Muestras de Asturias (FIDMA) opened in Gijón, featuring a flagship pavilion from the Principado de Asturias. Under the slogan “Asturies yes tú,” the exhibit offers an interactive tour of the region’s 45‑year journey since the Statute of Autonomy, highlighting advances in health, education, employment, equality, mobility, culture and science. Visitors can see a surgical robot, artificial‑intelligence demos, a humanoid robot from Idonia, retro video‑games and augmented‑reality museum tours.

Four municipalities of the Valle del Trubia – Santo Adriano, Proaza, Quirós and Teverga – share a stand from 1 to 16 August to promote their natural landscapes and local products, including a cheese tasting. The municipal pavilion also dedicates a section to the Laboral building, presenting the exhibition “Laboral. Patrimonio, cultura, vida” that underscores its candidacy for UNESCO World Heritage status.

These combined cultural, technological and heritage displays aim to strengthen Asturias’s regional identity and attract national and international visitors to the summer fair.
