ASU Olimpiada 2026 opens in Aruba with 27 federations

The ASU Olimpiada 2026 has officially commenced in Aruba. The three-month-long sporting event features participation from 27 of the 40 ASU federations.

The opening ceremony, titled ‘Corazón de Campeón’, was held at the Gilberto François ‘Betico’ Croes Sports Center in Santa Cruz. The event included a national flag raising, musical performances, and a presentation by various local folklore and dance groups.

During the ceremony, the new official mascot, a parrot named ARI, was unveiled. Key addresses were delivered by ASU President Soraida Boekhoudt and Minister of Sports Gerlien Croes. The event concluded with an equestrian exhibition by the Organización Ecuestre Arubana.
