Asunción launches urban resilience and biomass energy projects

Asunción is implementing several major urban and environmental initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure and sustainability. A USD 100 million Resilience Project, funded by the World Bank, focuses on transforming the city's Coastal Strip. This project includes improving urban, social, and environmental conditions, as well as relocating 550 families currently residing in the Chacarita area to provide adequate housing solutions.

Additionally, the Municipality of Asunción, with technical and financial support from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), is developing a project to convert tree pruning waste into biomass for industrial energy use. The initiative aims to reduce environmental issues caused by organic waste in landfills and waterways. The plan involves establishing two pilot plants in Asunción and Luque, each capable of processing up to 25 tons of pruning waste per day, serving the metropolitan area including Luque and Mariano Roque Alonso.
